MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 48-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after Miami-Dade police said he stabbed another man at a food store early Wednesday morning.

According to police, the crime happened at the Northside Supermarket, located at 7990 NW 32nd Ave. in the West Little River area.

Police said just after 1:30 a.m., the victim, identified as Michael Anthony Parker, had been involved in an “altercation” with a woman at the store when the suspect, George Armstrong, began stabbing him with an “unknown sharp object.”

Parker, 53, ran across the street to a 7-Eleven and collapsed, police said. He died of his injuries about two hours later at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Armstrong had left the scene by the time officers arrived; they later canvassed the area and found him, according to police.

He “gave several inconsistent statements regarding his involvement in the incident,” an arrest report states. An alleged confession was redacted from the report.

Armstrong, who is homeless, was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday.
